Fluids keep your body hydrated; without them your body won't function at its best, but the amount of water you need depends on a range of factore, such as climatic conditions, your health, your clothing, your exercise intensity and duration. Being well hydrated will differ per person and situation, but a general rule is 1.5-2 litres a day, and not all in one go.
You probably need more fluids when working out especially if you sweat heavily; you have a medical condition, or areon a medication that is a diuretic.
I should drink water when I'm thirsty right? this isnt always a good indicator as once you are thirsty you may already be dehydrated. If you are sweating, you should be drinking! Little sips throughout a work out, especially if you don't do well with a belly full of water.
Drinking enough water during exercise is important to maintain normal body function as well as maintain performance levels.
Some signs you have not had enough water may be headache, tiredness, dry mouth, or lips, and muscle cramps.
What is one of the best indicators of your hydration?
In the end it all comes down to our urine. If the colour of your urine is pale you are well hydrated and if it is dark you are likely needing to have more fluids.
